Boudica Films
Boudica launched a new film finance initiative, supported by Women and Film & TV, aimed at supporting female-centric films, at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2016.
The initiative, which builds on the success of films like The Falling and Iona, aims to increase the employment of women in the film industry by ensuring that a number of criteria are met. Boudica will look at the gender of the director, screenwriter, producer, lead protagonists as well as the overall gender balance of the film. Not all of these criteria need to be met, but all third-party projects will be assessed against these criteria, and all Boudica projects will be developed following these criteria.
Boudica is the brand name for a number of boutique production companies. Since 2013 Boudica has made and invested in 7 feature films.
We have had considerable success to date on both the creative side (The Falling was one of Mark Kermode’s top 10 films of 2015 and all our films have premiered at prestigious film festivals) and in terms of commercial return. Investors can get involved through SEIS / EIS structures, through P&A finance, completion finance or senior debt financing.
We work with leading industry organisations such as BBC Films, British Film Institute and Creative Scotland as well as leading talent behind and in front of the camera (i.e. Maisie Williams, Greta Scacchi, Maxine Peake, Ruth Negga).
The company is led by Ian Davies and Rebecca Long.
We have some fantastic projects and opportunities lined up for 2017. Take a look at our films in the projects pages and get in touch if you would like to join in the Boudica story.
